Fall Style: From Uptown to Upstate

Fall Style 2019: Easy Outdoor Layers

 Featuring JCPenny

Fall is in full swing here in New York. The leaves are changing, Pumpkin Spice lattes are flying out of my corner coffee shop, and it’s (finally) time to start layering! When it comes to pulling together my looks for Fall, I love to opt for something rugged and outdoor-ready but that will fit in to my city lifestyle just perfectly (think comfortable yet classic). This month I’m excited to be partnering with JCPenney to pull together a killer Fall look from the new St. John’s Bay Men’s Outdoor collection. Featuring classic styles with updates fits and silhouettes, this collection is everything I look for when styling for Fall (and trust me, it was hard to pick just one look!).

After visiting the JCPenney store here in Manhattan, I ended up landing on a look that will take me from uptown to upstate, featuring a slim pair of outdoor cargo joggers in a rich olive green. I paired them with a classic 1/4 button popover fleece (you guys know I’ve been raving about this classic 90’s trend on my instagram!), a soft and slim flannel shirt, and topped it off with a rich wine-colored puffer vest. Not only do these pieces work so well together in a head to toe look like this, but give me tons of versatility when it comes to styling the rest of my looks for Fall.

A Summertime Saratoga Escape

Summer at The Saratoga Races

With The New York Racing Association

Manhattanatites say that one of the best things about New York City is being able to leave it. The phrase most certainly rings true in the dog days of Summer when the city streets are steaming and the temps are rising. I try to plan some Summer escapes from the city here and there but to be honest, Summer is the busiest time of year for me when it comes to my business – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

As fun as weeks in the Hamptons and hideaways on Fire Island sound, my Summer is all about keeping the city hustle alive while picking the absolute best destinations to visit on the weekends. This past month Matt and I were invited up to Saratoga by our friends at NYRA (New York Racing Association) for just that, a quick yet magical escape from Manhattan.

With our outfits packed and podcasts on cue, we jumped in the car on a steamy Friday afternoon to escape the city heat – Saratoga bound! Not only was the trip one of the most picturesque jaunts we’ve taken in a while, but one of the easiest! In a quick 3 hours we found ourselves transported back in time to the splendor of yesterday in charming Saratoga, New York.

Upon checking into the hotel we spent the evening enjoying some live music outdoors, some shopping along main street, and of course a fantastic meal downtown (the restaurant options are beyond amazing) all before catching some rest for a Saturday at the races!

When we arrived to the track, everything was just as I had imaged but only more instagram worthy! Lush greenery was sprinkled with touches of red & white (signature Saratoga colors) across the grounds and carefully preserved details surround the track while totally modern amenities & entertainment are endless. While we were just the two of us taking in the sights, I couldn’t stop thinking how Saratoga is perfect for just about anyone from families to fraternities to friends…just snag a picnic table, grab a drink and you’re on your way to the perfect weekend in the sun.

After soaking in a tour of the grounds we were whisked off to the all new 1863 Club – the most state of the art and luxurious trackside experience at Saratoga. This exclusive club was the epitome of luxury, with gorgeously appointed private boxes (think camel colored leather couches and stunning appointments) and provided the perfect view for us to take in the afternoon of racing. First thing’s first though…time for some food!

A perfectly curated lunch awaited us in the dining room of the 1863 Club (I have to say the desert selection was on point). After some grub and people watching, it was time to get ready for the main event, racing! The Club is situated perfectly for enjoying an exclusive view of the races, check out some of the pictures I snapped from the boxes & trackside:

The hats, the fashion, the horses, oh my.

We continued to enjoy the races, food & drink from our comfortable (and did I mentioned air-conditioned?!) spot in the 1863 Club before jaunting outside for a private tour of the paddock area, winners circle, and stables – talk about being treated like a king! We couldn’t thank the NYRA enough for having us up to Saratoga for such a wonderful escape from the city – we can’t wait to come back. Easy Breezy With Bonobos

Summer Ready, Manhattan Style:

Taking The Bonobos Lightweight Collection For A Spin

The minute the weather gets warm and breezy in Manhattan, I always seem to race out and shop for the warm-weather staples like gingham, pastels, chinos, loafers, etc. This season I was pumped to parter up with Bonobos (been a huge fan of the brand for years as they truly have a fit for every guy, I’m talking over 200+ combinations of fit) to give their new lightweight collection a spin…and I have to be honest, I’m obsessed. Not only do the pieces come in tons of fits and colors but the overall look of the collection is tailored and chic while being insanely lightweight – which is a super rare combination! (Think the feeling of tissue weight / linen piece but without the wrinkling, see through fabric & lack of stretch that you usually find in Summer pieces). I styled the look with a clean pair of Summer sneakers but the pieces are so versatile you could wear these from the office to weekend brunch and everything in between. Bravo, guys.

Pops Of Pink + More Great Spring Sneakers

Street Style Sneaker Look

Featuring Adidas Nite Joggers Via Finish Line

For me – Spring style is all about great staple pieces put together for easy, effortless outfits while we wait

for the warmer temps and bold patterns. Think about adding pops of color where you can with a great

sweatshirt, and pair them back to a cool pant that’s just as effortless (a great black jacket is always a great

idea as well!). When it comes to spring footwear, Sneakers are my go-to when it comes to putting together

a look like this. After months of chunky boots and thick socks, the only thing I want to wear for Spring is a

great pair of tricked out trainers.

These babies from Finish Line are a very welcome addition to my collection – the Adidas Nite Jogger. Not

only are they available in multiple colors (for any look from sporty to street ready) but they are beyond

comfortable and stylish. The boost sole makes them perfect for running errands in the city or to wear to the

gym, and the pops of pink on the body are just the right amount of color for a cool Spring look.

Finish Line has the full offering of these bad boys on their website, click here to check them out. To shop

this exact pair with a great spring street style look – checkout the carousel below. Happy Spring styling!

Spring (& Sport) Ready With Finish Line

Ultraboost by Adidas: Spring & Sport Ready Via Finish Line

Spring is my absolute favorite season to buy and style new sneakers. Gone are the slushy, salty days of winter and here are the endless opportunities to up your street style game with a fresh pair of kicks. I’ve recently become obsessed with Adidas Ultraboost, and little did I know they were some of the most coveted sneakers on the market! If you follow me on instagram you know I love the hunt, but when it comes to shoes – the easier the better.

Finish Line has come through with an insane selection of Adidas Ultraboost for Spring 19 and needless to say I jumped on it ASAP. I opted for this pair grounded in white / cream with little hits of pink (did I mention the hottest accent color of the Spring season?) To give myself tons of styling options.

For this shoot, I paired them back to a classic pair of Adidas track pants, a clean spring white hoodie, and an easy black lightweight jacket – but these would look insane with anything form your favorite pair of jeans to a slim suit or dress pant.

What’s great about the Ultraboost is that it’s not just a cool, ‘of-the-moment’ shoe to pair with a great outfit, but is honestly one of the most comfortable shoes to wear when running or training at the gym. I smell sneaker success! You guys can head over to FinishLine.com to checkout the full selection, and as always have linked the look below.

NYFW Style Recap

NYFW #PKStyle Recap

As much as I love to capture my street style looks and share them all with you on social media throughout the year, New York Fashion Week is really the perfect backdrop for some street style inspiration. While we still have some chilly days ahead of us before Spring rolls into the big apple, NYFW is the perfect chance to amp up your Winter style inspiration board to hold you over until the temps begin to spike. Within New York Fashion Week now just behind us, I figured I would put together a little recap featuring some of my favorite personal looks from the shows. You all know I’m all about the details when it comes to styling a street style ready look, so I was beyond thrilled partner with The Vision Council to feature some incredible eyewear options with my looks, courtesy of Eyecessorize. Would love to hear your thoughts on some of these looks, feel free to comment or shoot me a DM on instagram. x – PK

This workwear inspired look was one of my favorites from the week and so easy to recreate for an elevated everyday look! Grab your best pair of skinny jeans and a thin black sweater to ground the look, nothing too complicated since this look is all about the jacket & glasses. This buffalo plaid sherpa workshirt from Sandro is not only warm but really makes your look stand out. Speaking of standing out? These Randy Jackson Collection shades are the perfect way to give this look just the touch of 1980’s inspired style to keep you street style ready. I ended up wearing this look to the Pamella Rolland show – I know you all loved that one on the gram!

Okay, you guys LOVED this look according to Instagram! As stylish and layered as this look may seem, it’s actually super simple to recreate and features style staples that most of us have in our closet. I kicked off this look with a gorgeous pair of glasses from TOMS via Eyecessorize (sooo many of you asked this!) which really brought the drama and served as a building block for the rest of the look. To continue the 80’s inspo, I chose to layer a classic denim shirt over a simple cotton turtleneck paired them back to a light pair of Frame denim, and top it off with an oversized camel topcoat. This was a perfect look to head downtown and take in the Todd Snyder show Baldwin presentations for NYFW.

All black is always a great idea during New York Fashion Week. For the Blondes show I opted for a chic buttery leather aviator jacket and cashmere turtleneck (keeping things simple and sophisticated is always on trend!). To make the look really pop, I threw on a gorgeous pair of frames from Dragon Alliance via Eyecessorize which added just the right amount of polish to this sleek look (and made the runways of the shows all the more clear to see & snap!)

As much as sportswear is taking over street style, a chic plaid blazer is always a great idea to take in a show during New York Fashion Week. For a few shows downtown, I brought an uptown vibe with my street style, pairing this glen-plaid blazer with a thin puffer vest (staying warm and layering doesn’t mean looking super puffy!) layered over a thin camel turtleneck. A gorgeous pair of John Varvatos glasses via Eyecessorize finished off the look, keeping things sophisticated and polished. Perfect look for the Joseph Abboud presentation downtown!

You guys know I LOVE a double jacket moment! This is such an easy look for any guy to recreate for Winter or early Spring. The key to making this type of look appear effortless is the styling. When layering a under the jackets, opt for something textured, bright & neutral (love this white cable-knit under this combo). For the accessories, it’s all about something classic, handsome and sophisticated. These glasses are from William Morris London and are icing on the cake when it comes to easy & sophisticated street style.

Winter Staples: The Sperry Duck Book

Prepping For A Wintry Mix With Prep Staples

The Duck Boots I’m Loving

With the Holidays behind us, it’s time to get back to our regularly scheduled Winter programming. As much as I love my red plaids, tartans, and buffalo check prints; I like to keep things Wintery but not too Christmas heavy when styling my wardrobe after New Years. In general, my Winter style is all about taking prep classics and adding a little twist to them. Classic houndstooth prints mixed with rugged Native-American prints, slim denim with the cuffs rolled, a classic beanie, and of course – a classic Duck boot and chunky pair of socks. These bad boys from Sperry are my new go-to’s. Trust me, being an East coast kid with preppy roots, I’ve literally owned every pair of Duck boots out there – and I have to say these by far the most comfortable. Gone are the days of clunking around in boots that feel like cinderblocks, no more socks slipping down past my heels, etc…you know the struggles of an old-school Duck Boot. These babies from Sperry not only eliminate all of those pesky boot problem of years gone by, but they are waterproof with a great tread to keep me ready for city slipperiness all day long. Consider these your new south-of-the-ankle Winter staple when looking for a great boot that will give you endless styling opportunities and tons of comfort – finally, prep for all!
