This Week’s Best Dressed: Nick Jonas’...

If it wasn’t for the first look in our weekly top choices, you could rename our list the, “Brit Awards Roundup.” While two of our fashionable fellas walk the red carpet, the third catches our eyes with his low-key street style chicness. While donning mixed-media layers and bedazzled boutonnieres, these three celebs stand tall against the rest and earned a spot in our best-dressed picks of the week.

Though we sometimes have a hard time relating with Justin Bieber, we know when to give credit when credit is due. We love the singer’s look for three reasons: 1. We were all about statement sweatshirts this week and the singer is an excellent example of what we were talking about. 2. All black. Everything.  3. He knows how to layer. Biebs places a cotton zipper sweatshirt over a similar leather piece (double the trouble) and then finished off the look with a pair of Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski sneaks.

Second on our list is British actor Jeremy Irvine. In the past, we’ve proven that the Brits know how to dress, and this dapper dude is no exception. Instead of opting for a standard suit on the red carpet, the star mixes-and-matches casual and dress with ease selecting a gingham shirt with black skinny jeans and elevates the look with a tie, tailored blazer and patent-leather boots.

Coming in at number one is Nick Jonas (and we promise, we do not have a Jo Bro obsession…even though they’re featured here and here). The singer shows up to the Brit awards wearing a DSquared2 suit — which isn’t surprising considering he and Joe have a long standing relationship with the Caten brothers. What really grabs our attention is the embellished brooch on his suit jacket. It is a major fashion risk on his part, but totally pays off in the end and lands him in our top spot.

Do you think Nick Jonas deserved to be number one with his daring accessory? Or do you think he should say goodbye to the gaudy gadget? Let us know in the comments below!

Wear This Right Now: Statement Sweatshirts

With athletic-inspired looks still strongly prevalent on the runway, many designers have had to step up their game to create some truly unique pieces that stand out amongst the sea of sweatshirts. Whether you like opting for bold prints or enjoy having a couple witty words scrawled across your chest, there are choices for every guy. Layer it over a white button up or wearing one under your favorite blazer — or even tie it around your waist via 90’s style. Whatever your statement is this spring, say it loud with one of the great pieces we found below.

One Sweatshirt, 3 Ways to Wear it

As the Winter trudges along, we could not be more sick of our heavy flannels and wooly printed sweaters, in fact…they are already packed up in our closet to stash away for the Spring. In looking forward to Spring, we opt for a clean, neutral palette for the confusing month of style known as February. Consider this month as a palette cleanser after a long Winter and stick to classic basics like our best friend, the crew neck sweatshirt. Check out some easy ways to sport it, after the jump:

1) Brunch It: Keep it pulled together yet easy by opting for a slim wool pant in Navy, wool blend blazer and a Greats Brand sneaker.

2) Friday Night Lights: Take your fleece to and belly up to the bar when paired with a skinny black jean, grey trainer, and your favorite leather moto jacket.

3) Pulled together: Pair this staple with a chic tassel loafer, skinny jean and a classic woven shirt for the perfect casual Friday.

Best Dressed of the Week: NYFW Edition

New York Fashion Week is officially over  meaning we can finally get some sleep and let our sore feet rest from running all over Manhattan. Though we didn’t see many male celebs at the shows this season, there were still some dapper dudes who braved the freezing temperatures to check out what some of the city’s best designers had to offer for this-coming fall. From soccer stars to Grammy-nominated rappers, we found some of the best dressed men at NYFW.

Coming up at our number three spot is Joe Jonas at the NBA-All Star Game at Madison Square Garden acknowledging that winter layering doesn’t necessarily mean sacrificing style for warmth. The singer bundles himself up in a street-wear inspired look that stands out thanks to his choice of elevated pieces like his navy jacket with metal fasteners and leather pants.

Big Sean must have received the memo about statement jackets because he added a unique oversize piece with fringe detailing to his street ensemble  complete with Yeezy 750 Boost sneakers which are appropriate considering he was attending the adidas Originals x Kanye West Yeezy Season 1 Fashion Show.

Leading the troops in style was none other than David Beckham while attending his wife’s runway show. The soccer legend opts for a clean look that radiates a simple classiness. He layers a sharp overcoat on top of his crewneck sweater and tailored pants and minimally accessorizes with a newsboy cap and suede Chelsea boot. The ensemble is simple, yet timeless.

Do you think David was the best dressed celeb at NYFW? Or was there someone we missed? Let us know in the comments below!

#WingtipJungle Obsession: Greats Brand

While traveling to California to style an advertising campaign earlier in the month, we bumped into one of our incredibly stylish and dear friends in the hotel lobby. His taste is always impeccable so naturally while catching up we happened to do a run-down of his threads. It was what was happening south of the ankle that stopped us dead in our tracks. What we feasted our eyes on were the sleekest, slickest, most handsome leather sneaker we’ve seen in a while.

Naturally, “hey…sorry to interrupt but….what are those shoes” came right out of our mouths. Our friend excitedly answered “these? They’re this sick new sneaker company out of Brooklyn called Greats Brand. They’re all made in Italy…and get this – they were around $150 bucks or something”. We were hooked and we had to know more.  Fast forward to this week:

After a few tweets, emails & a snowy Uber ride to Williamsburg, we found ourselves at the Greats Brand ‘Field House’ ( a sort of showroom meets hangout meets pop up shop…open to the public on weekends) chatting with the brands CEO and Founder, Ryan Babenzian.

Launched in 2012, Ryan & his team decided to start building a vertical men’s footwear brand that makes a high quality product and sells it direct to the consumer at a value price. In 2013 Greats was born in Brooklyn and as GQ puts it, has been “shaking up the sneaker to store inventory flow” (most styles are selling out in 90 days of launch).

What’s the big deal?

In a world of classic styles that are ridiculously overpriced, Ryan & Greats Brand are cutting out the middle man and are saving the day with simple styles in the highest quality leather & suedes, like the Royale pictured below which is $159.00 (2 for $299 / 3 for $399) Babenzian credits their ability to keep delivering such high quality products at such a value to Greats selling directly to the consumer on their modern & playful e-commerce site versus wholesale. (a la Warby Parker)

The core line is made up of 4 classic styles, The Royale, Wilson, The Bab & The Wooster. The Royale (pictured below) is our favorite as we love it paired with everything from slim cargos, to suit pants, so great denim. This shoe is available in a beautiful chukka and high-top as well. The Bab is the ridiculously well-priced mesh trainer, consistently flying out of stock with a price tag of $59.00 (in a wide range of solid colors). The classic clip on is called The Wooster and is also available in various colors and fabrications, and the Wilson is your classic American lace-up, perfected in varying shades of suede, & canvas. New to the family is the vintage inspired throwback trainer style, Rosen.

What’s on deck for Greats?

After a wildly successful collaboration with Nick Wooster (the “Wooster” slip on is aptly named after him) Ryan anticipates more carefully curated collaborations, potential apparel expansion, sales on Mr. Porter, a deal with Selfridges in London, and more. Although commerce is the bread and butter here, when asked if we’ll see Greats Brand stores, to our delight Ryan mentions that brick & mortar has always been a part of the plan.

We couldn’t be happier with our new discovery (shout-out to our friend Miguel for the stylish introduction in that hotel lobby) and we think we’ve found our go-to shoe for 2015. Big thanks to Ryan & Greats Brand for letting us invade the Field House! – Preston Konrad

Love It or Leave It: Jumpsuits

From Left: Ami, Belstaff, Daks, Louis Vuitton

From Left: Ami, Belstaff, Daks, Louis Vuitton

We can not guarantee that you will jump right into this trend (yeah, we went there), but after seeing these pieces pop up over and over on the Spring 2015 runways, we decided that it was time to address the style at hand.

Before you dismiss the trend all together, there are a couple factors we think you should consider:

1. You will NOT look like your girlfriend: Though the ladies have been rocking these one-piece creations for a couple years, the styles are very different. The men’s jumpsuits have a more masculine feel with tailored fits and military-inspired detailing.

2. Most of the styling is done for you: It’s always nice to be able to throw something on and give the impression that you spent hours thinking about what you were going to wear. With these pieces you can throw on as is or choose to style it with a jacket or blazer.

3. Comfort: Do you remember when you were younger and you loved walking around in your footie pajamas all day? (Or maybe you’re like us and sill have some.) Regardless, a Jumpsuit can be like wearing your onesie around all day — while looking like Tom Cruise from Top Gun.

Do you think you’ll try out the jumpsuit trend? Or will you be leaving your onesies at home? Vote below and let us know what you think in the comments section?

Double Breasted Blazers Make Things Better

Photo by George Evan / Instagram: @GeorgeEvanPhoto / Twitter: @TheGeorgeEvan

While waiting for warmer weather and battling grey Manhattan days, we’re opting for season-less classics like double breasted blazers, slim denim & double monk straps (as the hint of one more flannel shirt and fair isle sweater might just send us over the edge…Spring, please come help). Tackle the winter weekday blues by pairing this bad boy back to a crisp white shirt and at least pretend you’re not wearing a coat on top of this whole look (and that its actually mid-April).

This Week’s Best Dressed: Ryan Reynolds an...

We know what you’re thinking  but no  these three dapper dudes didn’t win just because they’re in the ‘Gorgeous Wives’ Club (although it didn’t hurt them either). Ranging from street-level to red-carpet, these looks demonstrate how to keep your style game on point. And  for the first time  we have a tie for first place between one celebrity who is dressed to the nines and another who demonstrates a chic casual.

Falling into our third place spot is John Legend (left) reminding us of our love for all-black ensembles. The singer lets his statement-piece jacket do the talking while toning down the rest of his look with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. We are definitely pinning this one to our airport style inspiration board.

The first contender for the number one title is Eddie Redmayne (center) in this navy Ralph Lauren suit at the Oscars Luncheon. This is the second week in a row that the Brit has made it onto our best-dressed list, which he does with his ability to chose well-fitting suits for his body. (Now if only we could get the name of his stylist.)

Our feud for first continues with new dad Ryan Reynolds (right). Though the star is also on the main drag while making an appearance at the Sirius XM Studios, he shows off his apt for dressing up even the most casual look. He elevates his chinos and cardigan with a sharp, tailored overcoat that brings his ensemble to the next level.

Do you agree with our tie? Or do you think one of the guys was a step above the rest? Let us know in the comments below!
