Statement Sweaters – How To Style Them

Thanksgiving has come and gone which means the holiday season is in full swing. Another sign it’s time to get festive? Gap whipped out the crazy stripe statement sweaters! (Seriously, who remembers these from high school?) Anyway, as just about everything from the 90’s is back in style, I figured I would grab one as quick as possible. The key to making a statement sweater work in your everyday style is to pair is back to staples like slim jeans, chelsea boots and a classic pea coat. Instead of layering over a button down shirt, I say throw your statement sweater over your favorite crewneck tee shirt to keep things looking effortless and cool. x – Preston

(STYLE TIP: Remove the standard plastic buttons that come with your peacoat and have them replaced. I grabbed these vintage inspired buttons from a flea market in NYC and had my local dry cleaner sew them on…easy upgrades make all the difference. I linked a killer set of vintage inspired buttons below!)

Velvet Crush: A Night Out With INC Men

img_1170

This past Thursday night, I was honored to join a stylish group of New Yorkers to kick off the Holiday season in partnership with INC Men, exclusively available at Macy’s. Hosted by Nyle DiMarco (yes, the devilishly handsome Nyle DiMarco of Dancing With The Stars Fame) in a basement level SoHo speakeasy called The Handy Liquor Bar, the evening (dubbed #INCNightOut) was filled will great music, strong drinks, and killer menswear. I’ve linked the products I wore to event below, happy clicking & shopping!

I decided to opt for a luxe, tailored INC look for the night. The star of the look had to be the slim Jayden blazer in a rich navy velvet. Honestly, I couldn’t keep up with the amount of comments and questions about this bad boy. Understated and classic yet just poppy enough to standout, this blazer is the perfect piece for a kick-ass holiday party. Check out the blazer, here.  Instead of going with a crisp white shirt, I styled the Jayden blazer with a fine-gauge black turtleneck to reinforce the throwback, vintage inspired feel of the look (Think James Bond vibez). Just light enough to layer yet thick enough to keep the chill out, this is a wardrobe staple (I actually picked up a few of the other colors at Macy’s just for good measure!). To finish off the look, I wanted the pant to be slim, comfortable and slightly cropped…enter my new secret weapon, the deep black stretch pant. Fitted more like a traditional 5-pocket trouser instead of a suit pant, this pant is definitely a new favorite. Just the right amount of stretch proved to be perfect for a little dancing and mingling at the bar, while the luxe sheen fabric keeps the look dressy an polished.
