Wingtip Obsession: The Q Bracelet

And if you’re still trying to find the perfect gift for that special gal in time for the holidays, she’ll love this design as well. According to James Kernan, CEO of Q Designs, the bracelet is equally as popular in sales with women as it is with men.
Our favorite feature about our new find, you ask?

“We named our company Q Designs because we were inspired by the accessories that Q from James Bond created,” said Kernan. “If you think of it, those accessories are the prefect example of the intersection of design, style and cutting edge technology.”

So not only will you own a fashion-forward charger, but you can also fulfill that childhood dream of being a super-suave British spy. “The name’s Bond, James Bond.”

You know the drill: You’re running around to meetings all day, answering emails and texts, obsessively checking instagram, and before you know it (and 2 Ubers later), you have to rush off to an appointment across town. That’s when all hell breaks loose, that horrifying notification indicating that you only have 10% battery left shows up – NO, not now, NO.  #iPhoneProblems

Obviously you’re nowhere near an outlet and who knows what happened to that portable charger you bought last month. Never fear. The style experts at WTJ have discovered our new favorite wearable technology piece that will make dying-phone anxiety a thing of the past.

Startup company Q Designs has come up with a sleek, lightweight bracelet that not only looks fashionable, but will also give your phone at 60% battery boost – a.k.a. you’ll never loose your portable charger again because you’ll be wearing it.

The Q Bracelet has the Apple lightning connector (don’t worry non-Apple users, micro USB hubs are on the way) and charges your phone in the same amount of time as a normal outlet. The design comes in four finishes: matte black, polished silver, matte silver and polished gold.

Our lives are full of upgrades. Newest iPhone? Check. First Class? (well, fingers crossed our upgrade clears). And since you’re a man who likes having the best of the best, why are you still using that flimsy drawstring backpack you’ve had since your freshman year of college to lug around your workout threads? The minds at Wingtip Jungle think it’s time that you inject some serious style into your gym bag just in time to sweat off the turkey…and stuffing….and dinner rolls. To help you out, we picked out some of our favorites below:

  1. If you’re looking for a fashion-forward style, this Filson Medium Dry Duffel ($160) is the piece for you. The bag is crafted from rugged vinyl with welded seams for water resistance — so yes, sweat all you want.
  2. We love getting our wardrobe classics from A.P.C., so it was a no-brainer to turn to the brand when choosing pieces. Their Cotton-Canvas Holdall Bag ($220) will stow your sweats and sneakers in a crisp nylon design.
  3. Want a pop of color for your athletic adventures? Go for the J. Fold Montreal Duffle Bag ($145). The red color will have your co-workers and gym pals eyeing more than your bulging biceps.
  4. When the first Jack Spade bag was sold, the retailer was not a fashion company, but rather a hardware store. This was to prove that the product could not only be stylish, but also durable. The brand holds true to it’s mission of making bags that are not overly precious nor boring basics with this Pilot Nylon Duffle ($298).
  5. Herschel Supply Co. has been delivering high-quality bags since 2009 with classic designs and utilitarian features. The Sutton Mid-Volume Duffel ($55) will not only hold up to the rough and rumble of the gym, but last you a lifetime.

Shore thing.

While bustling about London, we stumbled across a new obsession, British timepiece brand ‘Shore Project’. Shore Projects is ‘inspired by the beauty and fun of the British seaside.’ The killer brand was put together a group of mates who realized that none of them kept the time on a watch (#cellphoneproblems). The end result? Simple, timeless, classic timepieces that can be worn everyday.  (not to mention sold at a great price, approximately $160-180 USD)

Okay, we’re intrigued…we must know more:
“All the watches are influenced by vintage designs, combined with strong modern day build quality. Using precision manufacturing processes this allows the watches to withstand the demands of everyday living. They are made with stainless steel cases and have crystal sapphire glass.”

What’s even cooler about the sleek wrist accouterments?  “The innovative strap mechanism that makes it easy to swap straps on a daily basis, so the look of the watch can change in just a few seconds. The idea is to create as many colours, styles and patterns as possible so that you never get bored wearing the same strap over and over again”
Behold the quaint yet effortlessly cool “Shore shack” (we made that name up…but we dig it…and wanted to spend all day with the Shore guys)
We opted for a gold number for a little pizazz, sticking with tan calf leather as our starting point and then purchasing an additional 3 straps to change things up.

Preston’s Picks
We’re all about mixing high and low over here at Wingtip Jungle, realizing certain items are certainly worth the splurge. When it comes to rugged footwear, no one wants to be left in the cold. For Fall/Winter 2014, we highly suggest investing in a pair of rugged boots that will take you from the subway platform to the office while looking polished and winter-ready. Our go-to pairing? A chunky cable-knit sweater and a slim pair of jeans.

Kickin’ It for a Cause
We love a good pair of trainers. If you are feeling the trainer trend as much as we are, keep reading…. we’ve found your new go-to sneaks for fall.In collaboration with Adidas Consortium, New York designer Ronnie Fieg has created a custom sneaker to commemorate the heroes of 9/11. The shoe is named, appropriately, ‘EQT Support ’93 – NYC’s Bravest.’

“I, as many, experienced 9/11 first hand, and was enamored by the people of New York who united to rebuild our city,” Fieg said on his company’s blog. “This project is dedicated to them.”

Fieg started with a classic Adidas silhouette and built his design from there.
“It’s a little sturdier and heavier than your typical tech-runner, and the outsole features pods which give it an all-terrain appearance,” he added. “I sourced an exquisite gold leather for the toe to represent the NYPD badge.”

The design also incorporates other elements of the NYPD uniform including the blue color. Woven material on the sides and tongue signify the protective armor worn by officers in the field.

Corresponding with the launch, Fieg’s brand, KITH, is donating $15,000 to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum Foundation to honor victims of the attacks.

“I believe if someone has the capacity to give back to their community, then it is not only their right, but it is their obligation,” said Fieg. “With this release I am focused on my community, New York City, and the heroes that embody it.”

The Ronnie Fieg x Adidas Consortium ‘EQT Support ’93 – NYC’s Bravest’ is priced at $170 USD and launches at select Adidas locations today. You can also shop the style at KITH Shops in New York and KithNYC.com.

June Gloom.
Rainy days in New York City are survival of the fittest. Up your rain game with some of our top picks in slick gear to survive the rain games.

1) London Undercover: Skip the drug store umbrella and opt for something grown up. $100 +

2) London Undercover:  Skip the drug store umbrella and opt for something grown up. $100 +

Party in the USA : GQ x Northern Grade
We were invited to checkout the GQ x Northern Grade pop-up space in DUMBO Brooklyn this weekend and felt pretty damn happy to be American.

A perfectly selected group of menswear brands, proudly made in the USA gathered to drink beer, talk shop, and have fun in the photo booth.

The guys from Stock MFG. CO in Chicago had a perfectly appointed offering of apparel, indigo threads, hats & neckwear. We had to grab this indigo linen tie (lined with seersucker), and a charcoal button-back seersucker bow tie.

Made in the US goods from Stock MFG CO…shop here.

We couldn’t miss a quick drive-by with the Giles & Brother crew…stocking up on more man wrist bling. Big thanks for the custom engraving & Instagram lovin.

Railroad Spike Cuff & every other man bracelet you’d need…shop here.
