Holiday Style: How To Wear Jeans For Thanksgivin...

How To Wear Jeans For Festive Thanksgiving Dinner Style

Dinners and parties with family, friends, colleagues…the Holiday season invites are endless and throughout the next two months I’ll be bringing you guys great Holiday styling options for your packed Holiday schedules. With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner (this week, AH!) , it’s time to nail your turkey day while staying comfortable and stylish at the same time. I usually save great trousers and patterned pants for Christmas and New Years parties, opting for a killer pair of jeans for Thanksgiving.
They key to making jeans work for your Thanksgiving look is not only to dress them up, but to make sure you’ve got a little stretch in them for that post-turkey coma comfort. I’ve partnered with 7 For All Mankind to style these Luxe Sport Authentic slim jeans from Nordstrom for Thanksgiving dinner. Not only are they INSANELY comfortable but they look awesome paired back to a chunky turtleneck sweater and wool, plaid blazer. (love this wash for dressing up and for everyday) Pair them with a dark, dressy chelsea boot to add a bit more polish and toss on a herringbone scarf to add another element of texture to the look. (Style tip: I frayed the bottom of the jeans for everyday styling, and love the rugged element of the fray in contrast with the slick chelsea boot)

Sherpa Hoodies: Fall Off-Duty Favorite

Fall is all about great textures and awesome layering hacks. For as much as I love to layer, it’s nice to opt for one killer piece to keep warm while looking cool. This sherpa hoodie is perfect to throw over a t-shirt and pair to your favorite ripped jeans for a perfect weekend look. (style note, it’s a bit chunky so I wouldn’t wear under a slim jacket or else you may find yourself looking a bit ‘puffy’…stick to a great puffer when layering with outerwear) Stick to your favorite gum-sole chelsea boots and you instantly have a look thats approved for pumpkin-spice, whiskey infused anything.

A kick-ass suede bomber is one of those Fall pieces that you didn’t know you needed so badly. The bomber style is the must-have silhouette of the past few season, but often hard to wear when trying to pull off a more pulled together look…enter the suede bomber. Not only will this bad boy elevate a jeans and t-shirt look, but will take your Fall style to the next level when worn over a chic monochromatic navy on navy story. Pair with suede loafers and classic accessories for a timeless, old Hollywood vibe.

Puffer Vests: Keep It Simple & Stylish

Puffer Vests: The Key To Clean & Functional Layering

Layering for Fall doesn’t have to be overly complicated, enter the puffer vest. My rule for Fall layering is to keep things clean, simple & functional. With temperatures jumping all over the place lately, I always suggest to layer functionally, making it easy to shed a layer or two without sacrificing your Autumn look. I’ve partnered with Old Navy to show you guys how I’m styling some of their newest Fall pieces. Start off by opting for a classic crewneck sweatshirt and killer pair of olive jeans. Not only will these pieces stand on their own when un-layered but they serve as a perfect canvas to start adding pieces. Throw on a classic denim jacket for a look that’s perfectly rugged yet pulled together. To top it off, I’ve added this puffer vest (which happens to be the perfect shade of maroon) with a great slim fit which will keep you from looking like the Michelin man when layered.

Buffalo Check You Can Wear Right Now

Buffalo Check: The Heritage Pattern That Is A Must-Have

With morning and evening temperatures sitting pretty in the low 60’s lately, it’s time to start thinking about how to kick off a Fall look while being temperature friendly. This kick-ass buffalo plaid fleece jacket from TopMan is perfect for a brisk walk to and from work while the temps are still crisp. (Super easy and fluffy to throw in your bag and rock a monochromatic look for your lunch break when the temps are too hot). I have a feeling this piece is probably going to sell out quickly so grab it now and wear all the way through Winter with a rugged boot and beanie.

Leather Jackets: Splurge Vs. Steal

When Fall rolls around, I instantly start to pull out the leather (and faux leather) jackets in my closet. A proper fitting leather jacket will prove to be one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe from these early Fall days, until the beginning of Spring. A great leather jacket used to a lot of saving or whipping out the credit card, but with the countless fast fashion brands stepping up the trend game, a killer leather jacket (not real leather obviously) can be yours for under $100. I’ve rounded up some of the best ones for under $100 (The one I am wearing above is this one from Forever21Men) as well as some splurge worthy jackets if you’re looking for real leather or to make an investment. The rest of this outfit is below, btw! x – Preston

How To Wear Camo Pants

How To Style Camo Pants This Fall

Getting dressed in the early months of fall can be really fun. As a stylist, trying new outfit combinations and working in new layers into my wardrobe is some of the most fun I can have! Being surrounded by clothes all day everyday for work, the whole process of putting together seasonal looks comes easy to me. For most though, I get it…it’s tough. To help you guys out, I’ve jotted down a few easy styling notes I use in my personal life and when on set styling a celebrity or brand. I’ve partnered back up with Old Navy this month and super excited to be able to share some of my general style steps to success for early Fall dressing.

1) Camo Is Neutral: This Fall, camouflage is back in a huge way. For me it never really went anywhere but I couldn’t be happier that this year it’s made its way into all of the big brands. These slim stretch chinos from Old Navy are the perfect shade of camouflage to mix with just about anything. I’ve paired them back to a preppy plaid shirt and monk-straps sneakers for a look thats pulled together and playful at the same time. LINK: OLD NAVY SLIM CAMO PANT

2) Look For Everyday Layers: Of course we all love throwing on a leather jacket or nylon bomber for an instant pop of ‘cool’ in the Fall months, but some days you’ll want to mix it up. Look for pieces like this shawl collar cardigan (this one is made out of the most comfortable sweatshirt material!) that provide chic and easy layering options. Not only will it instantly elevate your look when worn over a great button down, but it’s perfect for layering under a beat up denim jacket or slim blazer. 3) Fall Colors Go A Long Way:  When looking to update everyday pieces like button down shirts, try to look for seasonal shades and patterns to keep your overall look on trend. As classic as a pink or light blue oxford shirt is, I tend to opt for great rustic colors and patterns when updating my shirting like the maroon plaid from Old Navy in this post. Colors you’ll want to keep your eye open for are maroons, olive green, dark greys, mustard, navy blues and anything jewel toned. Shopping in this color palette is a sure fire way to keep your look stylish and seasonal. LINK: OLD NAVY MAROON PLAID STRETCH OXFORD

Transitioning Into Fall – Lightweight Laye...

How To Start Dressing For Fall Right Now

End of Summer / beginning of Fall style can sometimes be tricky. Hot days pop up out of nowhere and crisp mornings & evenings have me pumped for Autumn weather. To help navigate a killer wear-now look, I’m excited to have partnered with Old Navy to style some of my favorite pieces from the current collection.

The key to nailing your Fall transitional look is being smart with layers and colors. Think lighter weight layers in Autumnal colors like this vintage coach jacket & graphic baseball shirt. When the weather heats up during the day, lose the jacket and rock the baseball tee with slim denim (these bad boys have built in flex and are so comfortable) for a clean all American look. Style tip: rolling l the bottoms of your jeans will not only make your look a bit more styled, but it’s adds a hint of air conditioning for when the temps start to rise again). For accessories, a retro slip on sneaker and pair of classic shades polish off the look.

Oh, I almost forgot about the patch! When I was headed to the checkout at Old Navy with my new haul, I stumbled on some killer iron on patches. Sold in sets of 3, these are so easy to just pop on your jacket or denim for a super on trend detail moment.
