Camo Puffer: Holiday Gifting Approved

Camo is back and it’s back in a big way. While a camo pant is always a trusty staple to have in your closet, it’s time to branch out and take the print further. I teamed up with G-Star to style some of my favorite pieces available at Bloomingdale’s for the Holidays (they have a super killer buy of G-Star right now), starring this crazy cool camo down jacket (did someone say PERFECT Christmas gift?!) When styling this bad boy, consider the camo print as a cool, dark, neutral. I paired back to this awesome stretch skinny jeans and embroidered sweatshirt (both from G-Star as well) to make the look cool and sporty, perfect for your Winter weekend warrior status. Happy gifting & styling ūüôā

Holiday Style: How To Wear Jeans For Thanksgivin...

How To Wear Jeans For Festive Thanksgiving Dinner Style

Dinners and parties with family, friends, colleagues…the Holiday season invites are endless and throughout the next two months I’ll be bringing you guys great Holiday styling options for your packed Holiday schedules. With the Thanksgiving holiday ‚Äčright around the corner (this week, AH!) , it’s time to nail your turkey day while staying comfortable and stylish at the same time. I usually save great trousers and patterned pants for Christmas and New Years parties, opting for a killer pair of jeans for Thanksgiving.
They key to making jeans work for your Thanksgiving look is not only to dress them up, but to make sure you’ve got a little stretch in them for that post-turkey coma comfort. I’ve partnered with 7 For All Mankind to style these Luxe Sport Authentic slim jeans from Nordstrom for Thanksgiving dinner. Not only are they INSANELY comfortable but they look awesome paired back to a chunky turtleneck sweater and wool, plaid blazer. (love this wash for dressing up and for everyday) Pair them with a dark, dressy chelsea boot to add a bit more polish and toss on a herringbone scarf to add another element of texture to the look. (Style tip: I frayed the bottom of the jeans for everyday styling, and love the rugged element of the fray in contrast with the slick chelsea boot)

Fuzzy Fall Layers & Chelsea Boots

Sherpa Hoodies: Fall Off-Duty Favorite

Fall is all about great textures and awesome layering hacks. For as much as I love to layer, it’s nice to opt for one killer piece to keep warm while looking cool. This sherpa hoodie is perfect to throw over a t-shirt and pair to your favorite ripped jeans for a perfect weekend look. (style note, it’s a bit chunky so I wouldn’t wear under a slim jacket or else you may find yourself looking a bit ‘puffy’…stick to a great puffer when layering with outerwear) Stick to your favorite gum-sole chelsea boots and you instantly have a look thats approved for pumpkin-spice, whiskey infused anything.

Puffer Vests: Keep It Simple & Stylish

Puffer Vests: The Key To Clean & Functional Layering

Layering for Fall doesn’t have to be overly complicated, enter the puffer vest. My rule for Fall layering is to keep things clean, simple & functional. With temperatures jumping all over the place lately, I always suggest to layer functionally, making it easy to shed a layer or two without sacrificing your Autumn look. I’ve partnered with Old Navy to show you guys how I’m styling some of their newest Fall pieces. Start off by opting for a classic crewneck sweatshirt and killer pair of olive jeans. Not only will these pieces stand on their own when un-layered but they serve as a perfect canvas to start adding pieces. Throw on a classic denim jacket for a look that’s perfectly rugged yet pulled together. To top it off, I’ve added this puffer vest (which happens to be the perfect shade of maroon) with a great slim fit which will keep you from looking like the Michelin man when layered.

Buffalo Check You Can Wear Right Now

Buffalo Check: The Heritage Pattern That Is A Must-Have

With morning and evening temperatures sitting pretty in the low 60’s lately, it’s time to start thinking about how to kick off a Fall look while being temperature friendly. This kick-ass buffalo plaid fleece jacket from TopMan is perfect for a brisk walk to and from work while the temps are still crisp. (Super easy and fluffy to throw in your bag and rock a monochromatic look for your lunch break when the temps are too hot). I have a feeling this piece is probably going to sell out quickly so grab it now and wear all the way through Winter with a rugged boot and beanie.

3 Fall Trends You Can Wear Right Now

How To Shop For New Clothes in August (and what you should be buying)

For many of us, August means long Summer vacations, cool nights at the beach, and last minute vacation shares with your besties. In the fashion world, August means Fall is here and in full swing. While many retailers have adapted their product delivery schedules to make up for the fact that it’s still too damn hot for puffer coats, many continue to push the Autumn fashion deliveries to stores. What does this mean for us? I like to consider August as my Fall wish-list time frame…giving me a full month to digest what the big trends are, what the brands are pushing, and to start making note of the pieces I am going to invest in once the weather changes.

However with all of this yummy new product packing store shelves, I’m always dying to make a few purchases ahead immediately. If you are going to start shopping in stores during August, I’ve made a list below of a few things to be aware of:

  • Watch the Prices on Big Pieces: As excited as you are to get your hands on something new, keep in mind that the more expensive pieces you are seeing (leather jackets, puffer coats, chunky knits etc) will go on sale sooner rather than later as the Holiday deliveries usually deliver in mid October (which will typically bump down prices on Fall items).

  • Be Seasonally Smart: Make sure the pieces you are buying can actually be worn right away (aka stay away from heavy wools, down layers, chunky leathers, etc) Some of the biggest Fall trends are versatile enough to be worn right now, we’ll recap those in a minutes.

  • Don’t Jump Right Into Crazy Trends:¬†When shopping for early Fall pieces, don’t go too trendy too quickly. I always find that my style develops and changes once true Fall weather rolls around aka there may be a trend that I thought I would’t get into that I instantly become obsessed with, etc. Ease yourself into trends by playing with trendy accessories at first.

Now that we’ve gone over ¬†a few best practices, let’s get to the fun part. Below are some of the biggest trends for Fall and some pieces that you can wear right now to boost your August wardrobe and take you right into Autumn like a pro.

A killer camel coat is one of the best pieces you can invest in during the Winter months. If you don’t have one in your closet already…shame on you (keep reading, I’ll hook you up in a few seconds). What I consider to be a closet staple, the trusty camel coat is not only extremely versatile, but chic enough to give any outfit an insta-worthy style upgrade. Thrown over a slim down puffer vest & plaid shirt, your camel coat will give your look an instant slim, GQ vibe while keeping out the chill (I’m trying to get you guys to move away from the bulky puffer jackets here if you can’t tell).¬†This bad boy pictured above (purchased 2 years go) is an MAJOR sale right now at Club Monaco…under $300 and additional sale on top of that I believe.

We’re big fans of uniform dressing in the Summer months. We find something that works and we hit it over, and over, and over again. Right now it’s all about a kick-ass short sleeved striped shirt. We love these paired back to a trusty pair of jeans and an updated boat shoe. When the real heat rolls around mid July, shirts like this¬†will be perfect with a tailored pair of shorts and a handsome sandal. For now, consider a short sleeved striped shirt a best friend for layering while the Spring chill burns away.

We honestly think this is the weather that we are built to exist in. Sunny days like these in New York make us wonder how the hell we ever survived the grey days of Winter in this city. One staple that’s heavy in the rotation these days is the trusty fatigue jacket (based on vintage styles worn in the military). You can never have too many of these (Preston has three…one vintage, one new, one beat to hell). We love this bad boy paired back to a crisp pair of white jeans and a classic indigo striped woven. This look will take you from a casual business meeting to a boozy brunch while keeping you perfectly layered and your look on-point. If you follow Preston on Instagram, you obviously are aware of the velvet slipper obsession. If brave enough, try a cool slipper with this look and if not, a desert chukka boot or throwback sneaker will do the trick.
