The Double Breasted Suit You Can Afford

Double Breasted Suit: How To Style It

The double breasted suit has made its’ way out of the 80’s and into the twenty-teens with slim fits and killer prices. This one from H&M is one of my recent fav purchases. I like to keep things simple and classic by styling it with a tassel loafer and slim sweater (in a festive pattern, of course). Try and keep things monochromatic by layering it with a tonal sweater and black loafers.

Give Your Navy Suit A Spring Refresh

With Spring officially showing up to the party (once we get through this random 24 hour snow sitch that is currently happening), it’s time to start thinking about giving your navy suit a bit of a refresh for Spring. While we are always advocates of investing in new staples like suiting, we say hold off for a bit and update the pieces worn with your suit. Swap your crisp white and blue shirting for shades of pink and yellow. With neckwear, have a little fun. Go for a throwback club tie (with the old school crests and shields, like Preston is wearing here) and try mixing gingham with stripes. Trust us, it will work. As for the bottom half, we’re expecting to see temps above 60 which means no socks in our book.

It’s an awkward time of year. There are no holiday parties to dress festively for, temperatures are way too cold to wear half of the shit filling store shelves, we’re kind of grumpy. To make shopping and deciding what to wear a bit easier for the next month or so, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite and affordable pieces. Click on the hotspot next to each item to browse & shop…enjoy, fellas.

How to wear one suit, three ways

We challenged Preston to take his trusty J.Crew Ludow suit and give us three simple and cool ways to wear it. Check out what he came up with, after the jump:

Keep things classic and business ready with a crisp pinstripe suit, a grey tweed tie (it’s Fall now, guys) and simple accessories like tie bars, pocket squares & tortoise glasses.

One of our MUST HAVE pieces in the closet overtime Fall comes around is a classic crewneck sweatshirt. Try pairing it underneath your Mon-Fri suit for a look that’s weekend warrior ready. Don’t forget to add some color south of the ankle and opt for a cool, jewel toned athletic sneaker.

Give your suit a reboot by pairing it with a western denim shirt and lace-up wingtip boot for a vibe that much more East London art scene than Upper East Side banker vibes.

We couldn’t think of a more festive way to welcome to warmer weather than breaking out of our drab, winter toned suits. This Spring, take to the streets in a colored suit…our favorite directions being: 1) rich jewel tones like burgundy, deep teal, rich purples 2) go light with baby blues, periwinkles, light chino, steel grey.

Don’t be afraid to switch out your cap toes for a fresh court shoe (sans visible socks, of course)
